Kintsugi
Wabi-sabi is the acceptance of impermanence and imperfection, long recognized in traditional Japanese culture. The art of kintsugi perhaps best exemplifies its significance in being. A beloved tea cup or valued vase broken, maybe a chipped coffee mug, irreplaceable in one's mind, is meticulously restored with brazen scars of gold swipe that remind us what transient passage may lie ahead. Wisdom resides in its gilded cracks; the creases in one's face; wrinkles in her hands. All earned. Every one a history waiting to unfold.
